Weusi Artist Collective
About Us

Weusi is not only preserving a legacy, we are also tending a living community. Our current membership includes 17 visual artists who carry forward the spirit, history, and ongoing vision of the Collective with care, conviction, and love.
Our mission is to create and share positive art and imagery rooted in African diasporic patterns, symbols, and language, work that affirms Black empowerment and honors Blackness as beautiful, meaningful, and universal. Through our art, we remain in conversation with heritage, memory, and the living pulse of the present.
In addition to exhibitions, several of our members offer workshops that invite others into the creative process and help give voice to both aspiring and established artists. We believe art is more than self-expression; it is also a way to gather, teach, heal, and create community.
We are equally committed to honoring our elders—their vision, their labor, and all they have made possible—while nurturing meaningful ties across generations. Today’s younger artists are tomorrow’s elders, and the continuum must be tended now, with intention, reverence, and heart.
